Rachel Green “2009 Season”
“award-winning and exciting female driver”
Rachel demonstrated that she had lost none of her love and mastery of Caterham Superlights with a fine 4th place in a one-off entry at Silverstone. Following an invitation from Ginetta to participate in their final G50 Cup round at Brands Hatch in 2009, Rachel was back on track and once again in the thick of the action, only just missing out on a top-ten finish. In the course of her race career Rachel has made her mark and her successes have not gone unnoticed. In 2002 and 2007, she received the prestigious Lord Wakefield Trophy, awarded by the UK Motor Sports Association, for outstanding achievement in motorsport, worldwide. She is one of only a handful of recipients to have ever received this accolade on more than one occasion.
In 2008 she was awarded the inaugural British Women's Racing Drivers' Club Gold Star Award, marking her out as the UK's leading non-professional female racing driver. But Rachel is not one for looking back. She is now looking forward to a full-blooded assault on the Ginetta G50 Cup in 2010 but she is very clear about her longer-term ambition. “My absolute goal is to contest the British Touring Car championship and I’m confident that my 2010 season will be a great platform on which to build for the future”. She describes joining Team GCR as, “Just the most natural thing to do, as I will be working with people who rally want to see me succeed and who show care and attention in everything they do, from overall strategy to my own personal development as a driver.” In welcoming her to the team, Robin Sherwood said “ We are delighted to have Rachel on board. She has been good enough to make history so far in her career and we are now committed to maintaining that trend”. |
